Teachers are also often so burdened by work that they cannot interact with other instructors from other disciplines to develop interdisciplinary ideas and projects. This is ultimately an effect of lack of funding for schools, but progress must also be made in terms of teachers' willingness to tackle new concepts and reconsider testing strategies.

W12P2: Shortcomings of Current Curriculum

What role do you think teacher training plays in this issue too? What about the knowledge level on education of the politicians that pass laws concerning curriculum and funding?
ReplyDeleteIt's not as much task of training teachers as it is hiring passionate instructors and granting them more freedom in terms of curriculum design. In order to execute this educational shift, there needs to be a structural change that makes teaching a very desirable profession. If teachers are more carefully selected, there is less need for administrators so the ultimate government cost isn't as drastic as one might think. Still, politicians need to understand and recognize the importance of educators which would have to be demonstrated through increased funding.
